Hannon Hill Announces Latest CMS Version Release, Cascade Server 6.2

Hannon Hill announces today the latest release of its flagship content management system, Cascade Server. Packed with new enhancements that streamline the content management system's Site content model, Cascade Server 6.2 features cross-site linking, template sharing, and improvements to the solution's Velocity engine.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 14, 2009 -- Hannon Hill, makers of web content management solutions for organizations in industries such as higher education, government, and technology, announces today the release of the latest version of its content management solution, Cascade Server. Highlights of the Cascade Server 6.2 release include major enhancements to the system's Site content model, added Script Formatting capabilities, and usability improvements to tools such as the system's folder-copy functionality.

The release of Cascade Server 6.0 last quarter introduced Sites, a formal administrative component, and Site-specific user roles to the content management system (CMS). A vast majority of Hannon Hill's client base uses the CMS to manage multiple websites. The web content management processes of many of these organizations, especially those in higher education, can be described as highly decentralized. For these organizations, there is a constant need for an effective way to allow multiple people to manage multiple websites from one system. Adding Sites to the Cascade Server system has provided its CMS users with a formal way to segment and manage content relative to a particular website.

Cascade Server 6.2 builds on this Sites functionality debuted with 6.0. Marked by added features and enhancements consistent with the company's annual product development theme, "improving the user experience," Cascade Server 6.2 features a variety of changes that streamline the process of managing multiple websites from a single CMS solution.

The first major 6.2 feature addition geared towards expanding the CMS's Site content model is the ability to centrally manage and share templates across an unlimited number of Sites. Templates control the branding of a website's pages by enforcing structure and a consistent look-and-feel. Allowing Administrators and Site Managers to centrally manage and share templates across Sites relieves the burden and overhead of making changes to multiple templates, while ensuring a consistent aesthetic across websites.

Further enhancing the system's Site content model, Cascade Server 6.2 features the ability to seamlessly link across Sites in the system. Users are provided with several ways to link to assets across Sites within Cascade, including via the WYSIWYG and using special link formats. The system then uses the Site's URL property to rewrite links between Sites appropriately on publish.

Notes Bradley Wagner, Hannon Hill Director of Engineering, on the changes with Cascade 6.2, "we've really rounded out the capabilities of Sites with Cascade Server 6.2. The features in this release provide an elegant and effective way to effectively manage multiple websites in Cascade."

Along with Cascade 6.2's new features facilitating effective website management, the release also includes substantial upgrades to the CMS's Script Formats functionality with improvements to the Velocity engine. Additions to Velocity tools and documentation resources released with 6.2 will allow users to accomplish much of what they always have using XSLT Formats, instead using Script Formats and Velocity. The Velocity Template Language is a procedural language familiar to a wider base of developers and more easily understood by those with a background in languages like PHP and ASP.NET.

While improvements to the system's Site content model and Script Formatting capabilities make up the bulk of Cascade Server 6.2's new features, the Hannon Hill development team tucked a few bonus features into the release as well. Folder copying and creation have been updated to be more intuitive. The links between content within the folder are preserved relatively upon copy and/or creation. Cascade Server 6.2 is available for download from the Hannon Hill company website.

Contract Managment Systems...Absolutely! from Benefits of Web Contact Manager on Jul 14, 2009   Preview Open
Companies need to use the web to maintain budgets and manage their employees. Looking at a company like officeclip.com, having a web contact manager saves a lot of time and money. The contact manager is accessible anytime and anywhere therefore a system like this can have a few people monitor it than having a whole team overseas handling certain administrative needs, customer service and etc. Having a web based contact manager is necessary in this economy for saving and opening new markets. With this at home in the States there is no need to go overseas to outsource. If a company needs to cut down because of recession, then cut it down but give someone here (the US) the position to monitor employee time sheets, reduce the administrative task and etc. http://officeclip.com/web/contact_manager/home.html
