Castillo Technologies, LLC, has been awarded the STARS II Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). This innovative, cost-saving federal procurement vehicle provides 8(a) certified businesses with opportunities to provide a wide range of federal government information technology (IT) services.

This recent award to Castillo Technologies, LLC follows their 2004 award of the predecessor STARS I contract, ongoing until November 30, 2011. Under the previous STARS I contract, Castillo Technologies provided services to U.S. federal agencies such as DHS (Department of Homeland Security), DOD (Department of Defense), the U.S. Air Force and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) initiating over 30 task orders and generating approximately $2.2 Million of employment opportunities for the Arizona workforce. Castillo Technologies has completed over 140 work orders for federal and DOD agencies nationwide.

Mr. Castillo projects upwards of 30 new jobs created within Castillo Technologies over the next 12 months as a result of this contract award. “We are happy to have the opportunity to provide employment to Arizona workers as a direct result of this contract,“ states Mr. Castillo. “We are also very focused on hiring veterans right now especially with so many returning home and entering the workforce.”

GSA developed the STARS II program specifically as a time and money saving federal contracting vehicle and to provide an established resource for cutting-edge technology solutions from 8(a) small business firms. Services acquired through this program include IT help-desk support, cyber-security, virtualization, information assurance, Web 2.0, and cloud computing. STARS II is the third generation of the 8(a) GWAC contract vehicle, has a $10 billion ceiling, a five-year base period and a 5-year renewal option.
