A New Application from SocialTransactions Supports Education, Healthcare, and other Causes When Users Shop on the Web. The Firm Announced Cause Funds Today in Time for the Holiday Shopping Season.

This is one of the easiest ways you can support great causes during the holidays. It costs nothing to use and takes a few seconds to get started.

SocialTransactions, a San Francisco based startup, announced Cause Funds today, a new service described as a simple way for socially-minded individuals to help the nonprofit causes they care about most. Cause Funds uses a browser application from SocialTransactions that makes an automatic donation whenever an individual buys something at virtually any online store.

“This is one of the easiest ways you can support great causes during the holidays. It costs nothing to use and takes a few seconds to get started,” said SocialTransactions CEO, James Schaffer. “And with the proliferation of nonprofits--more than a million registered in the U.S.--Cause Funds removes the guesswork by grouping the best nonprofits into eight issue-based categories, everything from education to clean water to the arts.”

SocialTransactions shifts the fundraising paradigm by helping nonprofits access new sources of revenue, and it offers individuals a change, too: financial support can be generated through an everyday act, like buying something on the web, as an alternative to the traditional mode of writing checks to charity.

In addition to Cause Funds, the company is supporting user deployments through several nonprofit partner organizations around the U.S. "We are excited to start working with SocialTransactions,” said Jesse Hutt, Chair of the Parent Advisory Committee at Animas High School, a Colorado charter school. “The best part is how easy it is to get started. The parents involved in the program just click a button and they are supporting our school.”

User feedback has been positive and the company is working overtime to deploy new features. “Honestly, installation was so easy, I thought there must be more to it. It’s been working pretty well for the last month,” said Danny Bocanegra, one of the company’s beta testers and a supporter of Denver-based nonprofit, Water For People.

SocialTransactions, LLC, was founded in 2012 to develop innovative fundraising solutions for nonprofit organizations and simple ways for individuals to support their favorite causes.
