The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) announced the formation of an independent advisory panel to preview and recognize influential technologies, services and products to debut at CEATEC JAPAN 2007. Led by CNET Networks' editor at large, Michael Kanellos, the newly-created "tech-pert" panel includes Sean Captain of Popular Science, Richard Doherty of Envisioneering Group and Tom Samiljan of Switched.com. The panel members bring diverse viewpoints to the emergence of digital technologies and its impact on U.S. technology trends.

Comprehensive Exhibition of Cutting-Edge IT & Electronics

CEATEC JAPAN, Japan's comprehensive trade show for the electronics and information technology industries, is scheduled for October 2nd through the 6th and serves as the forbearer of many U.S. technology trends. This panel will identify exhibitor products based on their innovation and influence in the U.S. market in categories ranging from home entertainment, mobile technologies, digital content, computing networks and more. The recognized exhibitors will be announced towards the end of the show through a series of announcements.

"I am eager to attend my third CEATEC Japan this year," said Kanellos. "This show provides a unique experience from other shows because exhibitors reveal new engineering, pre-production samples and prototypes that truly demonstrate the possibility of where technology can go to solve everyday problems. In particular, I am eager to see if there are any notable technology advancements in energy efficiency and sustainability, because that is extremely top of mind in the United States today."

Doherty, who will participate in his fifteenth CEATEC in 17 seasons said, "CEATEC remains the only technology expo where the entire supply-chain of technology design is showcased. From raw technology materials and electronics subsystems to finished consumer electronics products, CEATEC is the best place to discover first-hand the technology demonstrations and executive presentations which combined define the finest consumer electronics products of 2007 and beyond."

About the Panel:

Following CEATEC JAPAN, the panel plans to join a round table discussion at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008 in Las Vegas to share their insights into the future of the industry.
