Direct Line Cruises officially announced its partnership with Celebrity Cruises in becoming joint sponsors of the 2010 Live Nation Concert Series at Nikon’s Jones Beach Theater, in Long Island, NY.
“We’ve never done anything like this before”, said Greg Coiro, CEO of Direct Line Cruises, Inc. (which has its corporate headquarters on Long Island). “So we were very excited that our agency was chosen by Celebrity Cruises to participate with them in this innovative marketing program.”
Staff members from Celebrity and Direct Line Cruises are on hand at each show to distribute cruise flyers to patrons as they enter the theater. During intermission at each show, a specially designed promotional spot for Celebrity Cruises and Direct Line Cruises plays on the jumbo screens throughout the theater and a booth is set up in one of the main areas for concert guests who want to discuss cruising with one of the agency’s sales staff. In addition, exclusive cruise deals are offered during the show that are only available to Jones Beach ticket holders.
The concert series kicked off on June 19 with musical groups Styx and Foreigner and, this past weekend, with super-groups Chicago and the Doobie Brothers. According to Greg, “We were amazed at how many people approached us at the booth during intermission. Obviously, they came here to see a concert but so many were interested in planning a cruise. In fact, we ran out of brochures.”
Remaining concerts in the jointly-sponsored series are Steve Winwood and Santana on Saturday, July 18, followed by John Mayer on Wednesday, July 21, Sting on Tuesday, July 27 and Jimmy Buffet on Saturday, August 31.
