499CellPhones.com Promotes Traffic through Collective Keyword Popularity

Share Article

499CellPhones.com today announced an innovative approach to marketing keywords as virtual real estate. As its name indicates, there are four hundred ninety-nine different keywords which appear as a "cloud" on the web page. Each keyword is marketed to sponsors who own it for as long as the site remains online (a minimum of two years).

499CellPhones.com today marketed a response to Joel Comm's (JC) highly successful 500words.com. Far from being a "copy cat" -- there's a lot more to the 499CellPhones marketing story than meets the eye.

Milliondollarhomepage.com inspired JC's site, which chose to use keywords (which can be indexed), instead of images, which cannot. Both sites were successful with traffic, though both could have further optimized their sites. In the latter case, generalized keywords (i.e., "notice" or "sleep") simply ignored the value of keyword popularity. Both were apparently oblivious to the synergy of hosting hundreds of conceptually-related, popular keywords in close proximity to one another.

According to Steve Maclin, trend spotter for 499CellPhones.com, this site remedies these oversights by "...focusing on the most popular keywords used in a search for phones. As a result, instead of attracting visitors with merely passing interests, 499CellPhone sponsors are afforded the benefit of receiving a higher percentage of those who have demonstrated specific interests in cell phone products/ services.

On 499CellPhones.com, you select from the most popular keywords displayed on the page and create a link to your website for a small fee. The keywords are all over the map, so anyone should be able to find one or more that's consistent with their website content. Most keywords are related to the cellphone industry, but you can submit your own for an additional fee.

You can select the following features to make your keywords stand out:

  • Small, medium, large or jumbo font size;
  • Bold, italics, underline, overline;
  • Multiple colors;
  • Mouseover text that appears when the mouse is rolled over your keyword.

Once a keyword is claimed, it's gone forever, or at least for the next two years that the site will remain online. That means the high-traffic keywords will go rather quickly.

This is a great idea which has already caught the attention of many people who will be clicking through to sponsors' links. And, since our popular keywords will be used to promote our sponsors' sites, there may be an increased search engine benefit that images or generalized links cannot provide.
