“We are extremely excited to reach the 500,000 milestone in a 3 month period”, said Marc Leff, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of GRC Wireless Recycling. “Our suite of recycling programs are well positioned to meet the growing recycling demands of the wireless world.”

The company’s cites its new recycling facility, which opened in October 2007, as a key facilitator of its growth. “Our expansion in the South Florida markets reaffirms our longstanding belief that proximity to the Miami export market is key to our success. Latin America consumes over 75% of the cell phones recycled in the U.S., and Miami is the export center for Latin America,” stated Marc Leff. “Our geographic proximity to Miami, and familiarity with Latin American markets, culture, and business leaders, offers GRC a competitive advantage.”

About GRC Wireless Recycling

Founded in 2001, GRC Wireless Recycling (grcrecycling.com) has emerged as an industry leader in cell phone recycling. GRC offers a comprehensive suite of wireless recycling programs, including cell phone fundraising, asset recovery, scrap recycling, and cell phone donation programs. The company has contributed over $5,500,000 to thousands of nonprofits that recycle cell phones with GRC.

GRC additionally offers recycling services through its Shelter Alliance program (www.shelteralliance.net). Shelter Alliance was founded by GRC in 2002 to meet the recycling needs of domestic violence shelters that collected phones from their communities. Today, more than 80% of the domestic violence shelters in the United States actively use Shelter Alliance as a recycling and fundraising resource.

GRC recycles through a blend of “reuse & refining.” Through the “reuse” program, collected handsets are marketed to cellular operators in need of inexpensive, outdated technology. Phones without market value are processed through the company’s environmentally responsible “refining” program that includes shredding, smelting and precious metals reclamation.

GRC, which offers a zero landfill e-waste policy, is a member of the International Association of Electronics Recyclers, a pledge member of the Basel Action Network, and an EPA Waste Wise Endorser. Through its Shelter Alliance program, the cell phone recycling company is a member of several state domestic violence coalitions.
