CompuTaught, a part of Cengage Learning and a leading provider of Professional Licensing Education, announced today New York's Department of State (DOS) has approved the CompuTaught's three online New York real estate prelicense qualifying courses including salesperson, remedial, and broker.

"With these course approvals CompuTaught now offers the full gamut of New York real estate prelicense and continuing education courses. In today's challenging real estate market, providing a convenient high quality option for prospective and current licensees to satisfy the licensing education requirements is in strong demand nationwide," said Bud Hunsucker, Vice President for CompuTaught, a part of Cengage Learning, Career & Professional Group. "Our online courses offer the quality of in-class instruction with the convenience of online delivery enabling anyone to successfully start and maintain a career in real estate in New York."

"I completed the online 30-Hour Remedial course and was completely blown away by the efficient way this course was delivered," said John Pierro, a customer from New York. "It really ensured that I understood and remembered the information unlike any course I have ever taken and I would highly recommend this course to anyone."

The DOS approval includes the online New York real estate salesperson course (to fulfill the mandated 75-hour qualifying course requirement), the New York real estate brokers course (to fulfill the 45-hour qualifying course requirement), and the 30-Hour remedial course for salespersons and brokers. A full range of online continuing education courses from CompuTaught has been offered in New York since 1998.

"For twenty years, our stringent standards for online real estate learning have been directly responsible for the widespread acceptance of online education for real estate and appraisal pre-license courses," according to Bud Hunsucker. "Many education providers are challenged to meet these licensing requirements, but CompuTaught's quality real estate distance learning programs have led the industry in establishing high standards for the design of distance education."

The CompuTaught learning system represents an entirely new approach to instruction administered using a computer. The primary feature that distinguishes this system from more traditional computer-based instruction (CBI) is that the system is designed around proven instructional strategies, rather than around the capabilities of the computer. CompuTaught's delivery system utilizes mastery and fluency based education methodology as its foundation but, uses your computer to dynamically control the learning process. This unique delivery system in online education produces very good passing rates on state licensing exams and proven retention of subject matter.

"Earlier this year we saw an increasing percentage of adoptions of our New York real estate books authored by Marcia Darvin Spada. We are excited to now add New York, the fourth largest state in terms of numbers of real estate licensees, to the growing number of states allowing online prelicense real estate distance education courses," said Dave Shaut, vice president for Cengage Learning, Career & Professional Group. "We look forward to partnering with New York's real estate schools, community colleges and associations to expand their business model by offering busy real estate professionals a fast and convenient way to satisfy real estate education requirements."

New York schools, community colleges and associations can offer these proven online real estate courses either as affiliate of the CompuTaught Education Referral Network (ERN) program or as an approved provider under their own brand.
