This week, Charlie and Evan give listeners a crash-course in effectively marketing to millennials as they debate Cracker Barrel’s latest C2C strategy and discuss the importance of planning for a continued stream of creative content.

In an effort to connect with the next generation of consumers, Cracker Barrel debuted the Cracker Barrel Content Creator Studio on-site at the ACM Awards Party For A Cause, a 3-day music festival before the big show on April 3rd. The CB Studio was used to create 20 unique videos with familiar social media influencers and country acts that were then shared on multiple social channels, generating over 70 million hits online.

“They went and took their biggest customer segment, the country music fan, and combined forces with social media influencers to generate over 70 million hits on social media,” said Fusco. “When was the last time you spent ad dollars that got 70 million people talking about your product online in just 72-hours!?”

Was this just a useless marketing ploy or a well-planned program? Will Cracker Barrel be able to attract a new age of consumer through music and social media? That remains to be seen, but Evan Morgenstein believes there is still work left to be done for Cracker Barrel’s marketing team after this latest successful foray into millennial marketing.
