CA, Inc. (NYSE: CA), one of the world's largest enterprise IT management software companies, kicked off the 2008 World Golf Championships-CA Championship tournament week at Doral Golf Resort & Spa by launching several charitable endeavors focused on impacting the lives of children and giving back to the community. A special golf clinic hosted by CA allowed 15 young, aspiring golfers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami to meet and learn from TOUR pro and CA-golfer Retief Goosen. In addition, the company announced the donation of six sets of SNAG (Starting New at Golf) equipment to the local Boys & Girls Clubs, one for each chapter operating in the Miami area, to support the fledgling golf programs at the clubs.

CA's title sponsorship of the CA Championship ties our company into the Miami community and CA is proud to be able to give back to this area

"CA's title sponsorship of the CA Championship ties our company into the Miami community and CA is proud to be able to give back to this area," said Bill Hughes, senior vice president of Corporate Communications, CA, Inc. "CA is committed to partnering with organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs to help the children of the Miami area enjoy better, happier lives."

The kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs participating in the clinic received hands-on instruction from Goosen, one of the world's elite golfers, as they learned the finer points of the game on the 18th green on Doral's Red Course. The clinic presented a once-in-a-lifetime experience for these children to gain insight from a professional golfer at a world-class venue.

The donation of SNAG equipment, valued at $12,000, will allow each of the six Boys & Girls Clubs in the Miami area to teach golf to all of their members without regard to the cost and time it would traditionally take to introduce kids and allow them to participate in the game at a local golf course. In conjunction with The First Tee, CA has provided the sets of SNAG equipment which are specially designed for use in more confined spaces such as gymnasiums, school yards and playgrounds. Each set contains enough equipment for up to 40 children to participate at a single time. Also, each chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs will receive special training through The First Tee that will provide them with the knowledge and insight to expose and teach golf to all of its members. This donation is in addition to CA's current 3 year, $4.6 million donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America that launched their National Information Technology Security Program.

CA will also donate a total of 200 Championship Club tickets to the South Florida Golf Foundation (SFGF), the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami and The First Tee Miami for each day of tournament play. In addition, the inaugural CA Course Reporters program will enable four youths from The First Tee and Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami to become the eyes and ears of the CA Championship for young golf fans around the world, sharing their experiences through their own blog at

These initiatives are unique extensions of CA's company values rooted in giving back to the community. In developing partnerships with these local organizations along with SFGF, CA is committed to helping make a difference in the lives of kids within the South Florida community. In 2007, the CA Championship helped raise almost $1 million dollars for the SFGF and, in an effort to grow that number this year, CA will again donate the proceeds of the tournament.

CA, Inc. is in its third year as a World Golf Championships sponsor and its second as the title sponsor of the World Golf Championships event at Doral. The CA Championship is the centerpiece of a fully-integrated marketing and sponsorship program designed to leverage CA's visibility among its customers. The global golf marketing strategy also includes broadcast media, brand visibility, customer hospitality and other partnership opportunities. For more information, please visit
