New African Tiger Energy Drink to Support Charity Benefiting African Relief Efforts
The African Tiger Premium Energy Drink (www.african-tiger.com) company will create an in-house charity, the Hummingbird Foundation that will play a hands-on role in creating sustainable projects in Africa.
Vienna, Austria (PRWEB) January 16, 2007 -- The newly launched African Tiger Premium Energy Drink company today announced it will create a charity to benefit African relief efforts.

African Tiger, a subsidiary of Austria-based HS Trade GmbH, will create a non-profit arm, the Hummingbird Foundation, within the for-profit company. The charity is in keeping with the company's philosophy of effecting positive change.
African Tiger believes that it is the responsibility of business and individuals to help protect the environment, support sustainable growth and development, and seek socially inclusive change.
"Everything we do revolves around our values, our purpose and our mission, which is simply to sell high-quality products, support sustainable development and protect mother Earth," said Harald Nejdl, co-founder of African Tiger. "We created this company to raise awareness, to enjoy doing it and to also prove that a company can be profitable, sustainable, responsible and do some good in the world."
The soon-to-be-formed Hummingbird Foundation will administer and play a hands-on role in creating sustainable and scalable projects in Africa. Several company employees work and have worked for international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) including the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR) and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).
African Tiger plans to partner only with the most reputable and credible organizations to ensure that the Hummingbird Foundation's projects reach their full potential. Additionally, the company plans to operate the foundation with "open-book" transparency, with all administrative and overall project costs being equivalent to those of the "four-star" charity standards listed by The Charity Navigator.
"Some might say we are merely using Africa to sell energy drinks, but nothing could be further from the truth," said Gregory Kennedy-Salemi, a partner in 5Colours Imports, LLC, the U.S. distributor of African Tiger. "Several members of our founding group, including myself, have worked for years in the NGO sector on creative initiatives dealing with human rights, fair trade, child labor and the environment and Africa. We are committed to these issues."

q: can an energy drink give more than energy? a: yes!!
here is a little personal story about a couple of people I know:
a few months ago, a dear friend and colleague of mine, gregory kennedy salemi, asked me if i would do a little work on a new project of his. as I know greg, and know his work with youth and global issues, I was of course interested in helping out.
when he told me it was an energy drink, i was a little suprised. when he told me the name was 'african tiger' i was even more perplexed.
it did not take long to learn that my instincts were correct, and gregs project sounded extremely worthwhile.
he introduced me to a wonderful man called harald.
harald, a business man with a heart ,decided he had enough of the cold hearted business world in which he was working. he wanted to start his own business - something with meaning that would give something back.
he walked away from his job.
then he met greg.
they put their brains and compassion and creativity together (and harald a sizeable personal investment) and...
to cut a long story short, an energy drink with the name 'african tiger' was chosen as the medium and a foundation has been formed.
yesterday was the official launch for the drink. currently they are looking for distribution, but they already have fans all over the world, wanting to support them. i would love to see this small business succeed. i have watched from the sidelines as this dream becomes reality, and this team has overwhelmed me with their dedication and hard work the past few months. its all on their site. http://www.african-tiger.com
