(PRWEB UK) 8 June 2011
Naked Wines has raised £10,000 for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal by pioneering a unique charity fundraiser, which multiplies the value of people’s donations.
The UK retailer teamed up with New Zealand Winegrowers to invite producers, agents and importers world-wide to donate wine, to be sold-off to their customers – with all proceeds other than the tax man’s cut going to the official Christchurch Appeal.
Naked Wines’ Founder and CEO Rowan Gormley explained:
“Our customers have already funded 1000s of bottles of wine on trust, so we knew they’d be open to supporting a worthwhile cause and trying something new. And with Advance Bookings, we had the platform to promote and sell the wine quickly – before it arrived in the UK.”
Our customers were delighted to be supporting an important cause AND get some wine in return. And by teaming up with other businesses, we achieved far more than we could have done alone.”
Talking about the initiative, Mark Weldon from the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal said:
“By rallying people together, Naked Wines have done a fantastic job at making donations go further – and we’d like to thank all the importers, agents and winemakers who joined in the cause. The earthquake devastated the city and Christchurch needs us now more than ever. “
Wine donations included Villa Maria wines from Hatch Mansfield, Lindauer Sparkling from Lion Nathan, Felton Road wines from Cornish Point Ltd and Coopers Creek wines from Berkmann Wine Cellars.
And as a thank you for the wine donations, Naked Wines are offering every company who supported the appeal the chance to pitch for an order, to their 150k customers.
