Travel, romance and adventure convey the message of God’s sustaining, eternal love in Charlotte: Saved by Grace (published by CrossBooks), the new Christian fiction by Betty Ruth Weatherby.
When Moses led the Hebrew people out of Egypt, a small group of them were unable to follow, and Charlotte imagines what their lives were like after being left behind. The prologue details their difficult relocation to West Africa and introduces Charlotte Lanover, a child of missionaries who is living in West Africa during the final days of World War II.
When the people of the Old Testament first fled Egypt, trinkets and small remembrances came with them. One of these items, a star sapphire, was revered by subsequent generations, who buried the valuable jewel in the 1700s to keep it safe. When Charlotte discovers it as a child, she knows it’s something special and vows to keep it with her always.
Follow Charlotte through the years as she makes preparations to join the rest of her family in America, boards a cargo ship bound for Virginia and begins an arduous journey to freedom. Crossing the Atlantic is fraught with dangers as World War II sees its final, bloody days, and as Charlotte fights for survival, she looks to God for help. A chance meeting leads to an unexpected romance filled with its own set of challenges.
All the while, Charlotte clings desperately to the prized sapphire from her childhood. Will she come to realize that it is simply a beautiful, lifeless stone and nothing more? Will she discover that God is the true rock of ages? Embark on a journey of self-discovery and reflection in the action-packed, romantic pages of Charlotte.
