The Renegade Playground Challenge gives people a way to compete while having more fun than they’ve probably had since they were a kid. Monkey bars, mud holes, running across streams, climbing walls - all the stuff your Mom used to yell at you about.

Renegade Playground, LLC announced today that it is now accepting registrations for the Renegade Playground Challenge (http://www.RenegadePlayground.com) taking place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. The event will proudly support Speedway Children’s Charities.

While it will take place on a course roughly 5k in length, the Renegade Playground Challenge is no ordinary 5k race, but is the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes and ‘weekend warriors’ looking for a unique challenge. Taking place September 29, 2012, the Renegade Playground Challenge will be held at the spectacular Charlotte Motor Speedway. No, participants won’t be running on the racetrack, but they will need to navigate over more than a dozen obstacles on a course that winds through the Speedway’s massive property. The unique obstacles feature names such as Everest, Wall Banger, Tunnel of Doom, Dirty Dancing, Nutcracker, Jack and Jill, Speed Bumps, Shark Bait, and more.

Those who survive earn the title of true Renegades who, while having a great time, are also supporting children in need. A free t-shirt for participants and a day-long festival atmosphere will make this a memorable event for all.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the Renegade Playground Challenge to the Charlotte area,” said Tish Sheets, National Managing Director of Speedway Children’s Charities. “2012 marks SCC’s 30th Birthday and what better way to celebrate than to have a party. To date we have helped over 11 million children across this country, and with the support of Renegade Playground Challenge, the participants & sponsors, we hope to benefit even more children.”

“People are looking for new ways to challenge themselves beyond boring 5k road races, and the sport of Obstacle Course Racing is taking off around the country,” said Dave Soucy, one of the Co-Founders of the Renegade Playground Challenge. “The Renegade Playground Challenge gives people a way to compete while having more fun than they’ve probably had since they were a kid. Monkey bars, mud holes, running across streams, climbing walls - all the stuff your Mom used to yell at you about. We like to call it Recess. Unsupervised.TM”

Renegade Playground, LLC is a proud supporter of Speedway Children’s Charities, and a portion of all proceeds will go to support the charity. For a full calendar of future Renegade Playground Challenge events, please visit http://www.RenegadePlayground.com.
