With conservation and “going green” on everyone’s minds, Cardinal Buses Inc quietly goes about their daily activities as one of the most environmentally friendly charter bus companies in the U.S. In addition to the fuel and emissions saving techniques in place on their charter buses, Cardinal continues to employ smart, green business practices in their offices and maintenance shops.
“Even though the idea of ‘going green’ has been a hot topic for the past couple of years, Cardinal Buses has been ‘green’ for decades,” said Sheila Dodd, Marketing Director of Cardinal Buses. “The ideas that are labeled as ‘revolutionary’ have been in practice here at Cardinal Buses long before it became popular”
Examples of Cardinal Buses dedication to an environmentally charter bus line includes recently lowering their top speed on all buses to conserve fuel thus lowering their carbon footprint. Used oil from the coaches is recycled and used as fuel to heat the maintenance facilities and warehouses and takeoff parts from the buses are recycled as scrap metal. Also, every used tire from the Indiana charter buses is sent back to the manufacturer for recycling or to be retread for use in the trucking industry.
The environmentally responsible practices don’t stop on the highway or with the buses, however. The administrative side of the company is doing their part as well to reduce energy usage and eliminate waste. Correspondence with customers including billing and advertising is primarily done digitally through email or social media. Much of the paper that is utilized on a daily basis is recycled and reused in house. And finally, the lights in the office and in the service department are run on timers, thus reducing the amount of unnecessary electricity spent.
Collectively, the group travel industry is doing their part to reduce fossil fuel consumption during the busy travel days of summer. By educating the populace that traveling by bus is not only financially, but environmentally responsible, there is hope that the negative impact caused by car and van vacation travel can be stopped and eventually reversed. Every full charter bus has the opportunity to remove 55 cars from the roadway. Multiply that times thousands of buses and motorcoaches and the positive impact on the environment is tremendous.
Cardinal Buses is proud to make the integral claim that they are doing their best to be resourceful and responsible even when the customers don’t know it. This all paints a collective picture of Cardinal Buses’ dedication to being an outstanding Charter Bus service provider to their clients and responsible participant in lowering their ecological footprint on our planet.
