Younger travellers tend to head to the cheaper ‘party’ destinations and like to relate with friends who have already visited certain clubs

Cheap.co.uk confirms the thoughts and recommendations of family and friends is the biggest decision maker when it comes to choosing a holiday destination. In a recent survey carried out on the website http://www.cheap.co.uk, site visitors were asked a small number of questions in relation to their travel plans for 2012 and the inspiration behind these.
This matched data released by travel association Abta although the Cheap.co.uk figures are slightly more one sided.
A Cheap.co.uk spokesmen commented: “Cheap potentially has a younger customer base overall then those questioned by Abta. A lot of our site visitors come from Spanish travel sites which may confirm the reasons why data showed around 52% relied on the views of friends and family. Younger travellers tend to head to the cheaper ‘party’ destinations and like to relate with friends who have already visited certain clubs and destinations.”
Abta data showed 45% of travellers based their holiday destination decision on family and friends compared to 52% of cheap.co.uk customers.
Abta advised 16% had been influenced by a TV programme or film although records from Cheap show just 6% of their survey results, surprising as with the inbetweeners films such a huge hit last year, it was expected this would be a high input in choices.
Mr Purcell, contacted cheap for an airport parking quote stated: "I usually head to the same place year after year with friends but it all depends on who I'm going away with. If its with friends then we are after sun and a heavy nightlife, with my parents we head towards more interesting and often historic sites but with my girlfriend its a combination of both."
