Online travel insurance comparison website http://www.cheap.co.uk has advised that plans are in place to make further alterations to its travel insurance quote system including the introduction of a new hazardous activities area.
A spokesmen for the company commented: “When taking a holiday many travellers see it as the ideal time to experience new things, many activities are more easily accessible in the tourist areas then they are at home. Some of us even look to travel to take part in specific activities such as a safari or even sailing.”
The new activities area will allow the selection of a number of ‘hazardous activities’ which can be added to the quote request and only the relevant insurers who cover those specific activities will offer their services. The list of activities is to be fairly large and is set to include various waters sports such wake boarding, whale watching, and water skiing to more unique experiences like tree canopy walking and sand yachting.
They continued “Some activities will be automatically included within the initial quote but others will cause an increase in premium due to the increased risks. The system is set up so this can also differ between the different insurers so one underwriter may allow an activity such as banana boating as standard and another may want to increase the premium for this activity or not offer cover at all.”
The changes are expected to be showing within the quote system within the next couple of weeks after testing of the new area is complete.
