Every wondered what kind of woman decides to have an affair? According to IllicitEncounters.com, the UK’s largest extra-marital dating agency, there are three types, all of which are documented in a new report released by the site today. The report marks the sign-up of IllicitEncounters.com’s 500,000th member, meaning the site’s membership now represents 2.5% of the UK’s married population.

The report outlines three different categories of female adulteress; The Pragmatist, The New Wife, and The Late-Bloomer. As well as using extensive research gathered over the last 7 years, the site conducted individual interviews with over 60 female members.

The report can be downloaded in PDF format here. An excerpt, detailing the main characteristics of the three female types, is printed below;

The Pragmatist
The pragmatist is usually aged 25-35. She has decided to pursue an affair to increase the excitement and spontaneity in her marriage, but is unlikely to be truly unhappy in her relationship. Her attitude to monogamy is that it’s flexible, and she sees her affair as a practical aid to the inevitable ebb and flow of attraction in a long-term relationship. She may or may not be open about her exploits with her partner.

The New Wife
After recently tying the knot, the New Wife is panicking about her situation. Suddenly flirting and casual sex seem condemned to her past, and years of domestic solemnity stretch out in front of her. The New Wife is tentative about having an affair, and is likely to initially indulge in online-only exploits before taking the plunge and meeting with someone. She is young, but has no real preference when it comes to her love interest; she is simply looking for someone to remind her of her newly-relinquished freedom.

The Late-Bloomer
The Late Bloomer has been married for at least ten years, to a man who now pays her very little attention. Following years of neglect and unfulfilling sex, she has decided to take the bull by the horns and bag herself some happiness. The Late Bloomer is confident and knows what she wants; she is usually looking for a younger man who can keep up with her, and is not concerned with getting romantically involved. Her self-esteem and awareness of her own desirability is greatly increased by her extramarital exploits.
