5StarControl has issued an announcement about the launch of Chef’s Feed 2.0, the latest version of a popular restaurant locater and review app.
Local Business Review Site 5StarControl said that consumers are entranced by the latest version of the Chef’s Feed mobile restaurant search and review app, which recently launched in Los Angeles and other cities as an alternative to review services such as Yelp.
Chef’s Feed was originally released in 2011 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Based in San Francisco, Chef’s Feed allows its users to search for local restaurants and specific dishes which have been recommended by professional chefs. Some of the well-known chefs using the service include Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck, and Thomas Keller. The recent update to Chef’s Feed features additional cities in which the service operates, as well as new features that allow its users to rate and recommend specific restaurants and meals to their friends. 5StarControl expressed their excitement over the new customer review platform. "We are in support of services that connect the consumer to the businesses they use. We encourage businesses to invest in a reputable social media company to assist in bolstering their online presence as well as encourage consumers to review the businesses they frequent to pass along their experience for others," stated 5StarControl.
Chef’s Feed is now available in Los Angeles. Usually just known as L.A., is a city of nearly 3.8 million people in Southern California, with its metropolitan area containing a staggering 12.8 million residents. The second largest city in the United States, L.A. is known for its sunny weather, beach lifestyle, and as the world home of the entertainment industry. Los Angeles is also home to hundreds of top-rated restaurants that cater to the celebrities and business moguls who call the city home.
Yelp is one of the largest and most well-known local business review sites. Over 78 million monthly users have access to over 40 million reviews and ratings of millions of businesses in the United States and in 19 other countries. Through Yelp, users can search for local businesses based on their ratings, and also write reviews and recommendations for all kinds of different businesses, including restaurants. A recent study has shown the power of Yelp, as bad Yelp reviews have been proven to reduce a restaurant’s business.
The release of the newest version of Chefs Feed increases competition in the already crowded restaurant search and review market. However, Chef’s Feed offers a slightly different take on the review site concept by having expert chefs do the restaurant rating, giving it a slightly higher air of authority. It remains to be seen if Chef’s Feed will have the same kind of success as its much bigger competitor Yelp has so far enjoyed.
