At Inner Metamorphosis University (IMU), the meditation groups are designed specifically to discover and enhance the state of a vibrant and wakeful inner quietness. On Saturday, May 19, 1:30pm - 6:30pm IMU takes the participants on the path of inner discovery with their unique meditation group "Attaining a Mastery of Moods" at the Chicago based meditation center.

“Attaining a Mastery of Moods” incorporates meditations and exercises which empower one to act with responsibility in one’s life. That simply means one is empowered with the ability to respond rather than react to challenges. In this meditation group, each individual is encouraged free and conscious expression of one’s feelings. A supportive setting and orientations are given to do so without harming anyone.

Furthermore this meditation group also offers techniques to silently be with and observe one’s inner emotional, mental as well as energetic states without having to express or suppress any of them. One thereby becomes able to respond out of sensibility and intelligence, rather than reacting automatically in provoking situations. The ability to respond forms the foundation for establishing loving and caring connections with oneself and friends. Below is the glimpse of few exercises offered at this group:

Navaras: A way to allow the deliberate and conscious expression of various emotional states accompanied by a witnessing presence to oneself. Besides an energetic release of tensions, this is to discover what deeper identification, belief and conditioning within us trigger those emotions. The process is with oneself only without interaction with others.

Gibberish: This meditative exercise is a way to empty the mind. The expression of "what's on one’s mind" without language, allows stepping out of the content of the mind-story into an energetic experience of the inner hidden states and blockages. The process is with oneself only without interaction with others.

Some partner exercises: will offer the possibility to use the other as a "mirror". For example, by facing another person while consciously paying attention to what goes on within, allows one to become aware of one's value systems, viewpoints and judgments. By containing as well as being a witness to one’s conditioning enables one to recognize the relative truth of it all, allowing other perspectives to peacefully co-exist.

Like most of the groups, it will include periods of Silence, Dance and Celebration as well as time to share experiences or ask questions.

Amona and Jeffrey facilitating this meditation group are also the founders of The Inner Metamorphosis University (IMU), Chicago. Initiated by the mystic, Bhashkar Perinchery, since 2005 IMU has established itself into a unique non-profit meditation center in Chicago where various weekly meditation classes, groups, workshops and guest events are organized for inner development all round the year. Bhashkar Perinchery has been teaching for over 30 years the art of inner growth and the 'flowering' of the human potential. "The Source of Joy Within", one of his most recent publications contains twelve sets of meaningful reminders; practical methods that can be applied in everyday life situations for an easygoing approach to self-growth and awareness.
