Barrington Pools was found not guilty of dumping hazardous waste by Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Fecarotta. This pool built by Barrington Pools won a Gold Award from Master Pool Guild.

We are happy that this is behind us and we can again focus on what we do best - building some of the best custom pools in the United States.

Custom Pool Builder Barrington Pools and all of its employees are delighted to inform the public that on May 10, 2011, Mr. Dale Overson, Ms. Louise Donaghuah, and Barrington Pools were all found not guilty of charges that they knowingly disposed of hazardous waste, namely, rinse water from a cleansing process for pool filters that utilized a cleaning agent commonly used in the pool industry, muriatic acid. The allegation that hazardous waste was being intentionally dumped on the ground by employees of the company was found to be without merit.

The case stemmed from an anonymous complaint made to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency by former employees in March, 2010 that made a number of allegations that were determined to be unfounded upon inspection by the Illinois EPA. The evidence at trial showed that a system was in place to neutralize the muriatic acid used to assist in the cleaning process. Further evidence was brought out at the hearing that Barrington Pools voluntarily submitted plans to the Illinois EPA to improve the cleaning process and now possesses a permit issued by the Illinois EPA for the process.

Barrington Pools has been a member of the Barrington community for over 20 years. Barrington Pools and its employees will continue to be the best neighbors that they can.

Michael Murillo, sales manager for Barrington Pools stated: “We are happy that this is behind us and we can again focus on what we do best - building some of the best custom pools in the United States.”

The People v. Barrington Pools, Inc., Dale Overson and Louise Donahue appeared in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, Third District sitting in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Case number 10CR16873. The Judge was Thomas Fecarotta.
