It's an honor to be chosen by my fellow Law School Advisory Council members to serve in this position of leadership. I look forward to the opportunity to work closely with Council members on guiding the law school's direction.

Patrick A. Salvi, managing equity partner of Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., has been named chairman of the University of Notre Dame School of Law Advisory Council.

“It’s an honor to be chosen by my fellow Law School Advisory Council members to serve in this position of leadership,” says Salvi, a 1978 graduate of the law school and a member of its adjunct faculty. “I look forward to the opportunity to work closely with Council members on guiding the law school’s direction.”

Prior to attending law school at Notre Dame, Salvi earned his B.A. in political science, cum laude, from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 1975. After practicing law for several years, Salvi returned to St. Mary’s to earn his Doctor of Law, honoris causa, in 1999.

Salvi’s law firm, Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard P.C., is dedicated to helping families recover for both their economic and emotional injuries. The firm has offices in Chicago and Waukegan, Illinois, and concentrates on catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, aviation and product liability cases.

Over the course of his legal career, Salvi has secured more than 160 multi-million dollar settlements and jury verdicts on behalf of his clients totaling more than $500 million. He has been named one of the “Best Lawyers in America” by Woodward/White, Inc., and he is a past president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, a statewide organization of plaintiff’s lawyers whose members represent injured consumers and workers.

For the past four years, Salvi has taught a course, “Personal Injury Litigation,” at his law school alma mater, instructing Notre Dame students on basic skills required in the prosecution or defense of different types of personal injury cases, such as professional negligence, product liability, premises liability and wrongful death.

Students are taught how to build client relations, develop cases, draft complaints, engage in written discovery, depose parties and experts and engage in settlement and trial practice, with a focus on proving or contesting damages.

“It has been a rewarding experience to work with Notre Dame’s law school students and to teach the importance of providing clients with the highest professional and ethical legal representation,” Salvi says.

Founded in 1869, the University of Notre Dame School of Law is the nation’s oldest Catholic law school and one of the oldest continuous-running law schools in the country. It enrolls approximately 550 students and consistently ranks in the top tier of national surveys.
