Harlingen, Tx (PRWEB) February 28, 2014
February is Children’s Dental Health Month and something no respectable dental education Walrus would miss.
Willy and his handler Gail Thomason again took to the auditoriums of a number of Rio Grande Valley elementary schools, as they have for the last 16 years, and made an impassioned presentation to new classes of youth to brush “those tusks.”
This year they went to St. Anthony School, Stuart Place Elementary, Dishman Elementary, Treasure Hills Elementary, Oscar De La Fuente Elementary, St. Anthony's Catholic School, Travis Elementary School and Long Elementary School. They even helped announce a Zumbathon fundraiser put on at Harlingen High School South.
Visit the HFD Community News page for the full stories and photos of these events.
The Willy the Walrus program is so popular that a couple of students decided to do a Willy the Walrus public service announcement for their media tech class. Harlingen CISD students Isaiah Delgado and Dante Hernandez teamed up on the effort with Dante directing and producing with Isaiah editing, producing and playing Willy himself. A special thank you goes to Corey Ryan, Harlingen CISD Marketing Director and student mentor, who guided the project.
