The Computer Network Equipment Manufacturing industry in China comprises establishments that produce computer network equipment, including routers, switches, network safety equipment, WLAN equipment, fiber optic access equipment, ADSL equipment, hubs, modems and network cards.
From 2006 to 2011, industry revenue is estimated to have increased at an average annual growth rate of 14.6%. Exports as a proportion of industry revenue increased from just 5% in 1998 to a peak of 59.8% in 2007 as foreign demand for industry products increased strongly and foreign companies established manufacturing facilities in China to export their products. However, export growth slowed in 2008 and dropped 18.2% in 2009 as increased global competition reduced pricing levels and foreign demand weakened.
The market for computer network equipment is expected to expand slowly over the five years to 2016 after slower growth and declines in recent years. From 2011 to 2016, industry revenue is forecast to increase at an annualized growth rate of 9.0%, reaching US$33.78 billion in 2016.
