San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 26, 2013

Revenue for the Smart Phone Manufacturing industry in China has been increasing at an average annual rate of 48.8% in the past five years, says IBISWorld. In 2013, revenue is expected to reach $55.2 billion, mainly driven by increased exports and growing domestic demand for second and third-generation (3G) smart phones.

With the rapid development of 3G technology, the growing smart phone product portfolio, and competitive product pricing, demand for smart phones has been rising strongly, says IBISWorld. Production of smart phones has increased from 1.3 million sets in 2003 to an estimated 315.6 million sets in 2013.

The top four companies in the Smart Phone Manufacturing industry in China– Samsung, Lenovo, Apple and HTC – account for an estimated 52.6% of industry revenue in 2013. Industry concentration is moderate but has been decreasing over the past five years with the entry of many domestic players. In view of the increasing market share of smart phones, many mobile phone manufacturers are focused on increasing their competitiveness in this product segment, says IBISWorld.

Exports account for 86.4% of the Smart Phone Manufacturing industry’s total revenue and will remain the most dominant market for over the next few years. Domestically, demand in China's central and western regions of China will pick up while the country's developed eastern and northern regions will continue to contribute to the industry's strong performance.
