Participants of The Camp Chino Hills boot camp will receive more than just a rigorous workout. They’ll also sit down with a certified nutritionist to develop a customized meal plan to facilitate greater weight loss and a healthier lifestyle. What makes fitness boot camps so efficient is that trainers focus on all aspects of living healthy, including one’s diet too.

“I think one of the reasons so many people hit plateaus and fail to keep losing weight is that there are too many ‘cheat days’ with the diet,” explains The Camp Boot Camp co-owner Alejandra Font. “Maybe it’s that we don’t have time to cook or we’re tuckered out from work. Maybe we’re going to the beach and need convenience food. Maybe our friends want to go out for a few drinks and munchies at a local restaurant. There are so many ways we can ingest way too many calories and sabotage ourselves.”

In this YouTube video, Alejandra shares one of her favorite recipes for beach days. She begins with an Ezekiel tortilla, adds a few tablespoons of olive hummus (which just has 5 grams of fat), a tiny bit of wasabi mayonnaise, 2 slices of reduced-sodium / low-fat turkey breast, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and a small sprinkle of fat-free feta cheese. These are all items that can be purchased at Trader Joe’s and incorporated into a quick, easy, on-the-go meal that is tasty and healthy as well.

At Alejandra’s Chino Hills boot camp, she tries to share as many new recipes as she can. Chocolate protein muffins, Mediterranean Chicken Wraps, Mexican Pizza, and No-Guilt Pasta are a few other recipes campers enjoy. She hands them out with the customized meal plans, shares them on her personal blog, and also organizes special events based around eating for a healthier life. “We don’t really want to emphasize dieting… that just sets you up to fail,” she explains. “We like to think of it as training the body to make healthier day-to-day choices.”

The Camp Chino Hills boot camp recently went on an outing to their favorite local restaurant, Las Cascadas, which recently worked with The Camp to create a new fit fare section of the menu that includes low-calorie Chilean sea bass tacos on whole wheat tortillas. The Camp Boot Camp members receive a special punch card that they can use to earn exclusive discounts.
