39 year old local business owner Christian Mahne has been selected to contest the Surrey County Council division of Weybridge & St. George’s Hill in the forthcoming election on May 2nd.
He was chosen at a well-attended joint meeting of the Weybridge & St. George’s Hill Conservative branches at St. James’ Church Hall, Weybridge last night, clinching the nomination after a hard-fought two horse race.
Accepting the nomination with thanks, Christian Mahne said -
“Getting the Borough and County aligned, working together in the interests of local residents, is my highest priority if elected. I believe that the energy and fresh ideas of this new generation of candidates coming through will renew our connection with voters.
“We must run Surrey like a business, with absolute clarity and focus on providing the services, support and solutions which local people and enterprises need. I look forward to discussing this with voters on the doorstep.”
Christian Mahne is co-owner of communications consultancy Vetch Mahne. Prior to this was on the board of Lansons Communications in London.
He was a financial news journalist for 10 years for the BBC and CNN with a background in financial analysis from Cazenove & Co.
A graduate of Oxford University, he earned a Rowing blue in the 1994 Boat Race.
