Compassion Runs in BolderBOULDER for Poor Children around the Globe

More than 100 people will run in the BolderBOULDER Memorial Day 10K road race on behalf of Compassion International, a Christian organization devoted to releasing children from the restraints of poverty.

Colorado Springs, Colo. (PRWEB) May 23, 2007 -- More than 100 people will run in the BolderBOULDER Memorial Day 10K road race on behalf of Compassion International, a Christian organization devoted to releasing children from the restraints of poverty.

Team Compassion, comprised of staff, advocates, family members and sponsors, will run to raise awareness of poor children around the world. Compassion, a long-term child development organization in Colorado Springs, works with more than 800,000 children in 24 developing countries.

The BolderBOULDER, annually one of the largest road races in the world with about 50,000 participants, finishes at Folsom Stadium at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Compassion will have an information booth at the RaceDayEXPO just south of the stadium. Members of Team Compassion will wear T-shirts with a child advocacy message.

Several Compassion executives, including the president, Dr. Wess Stafford, and senior vice president, David Dahlin, will run in the race May 28.

"At Compassion, we run because we can," said David Dahlin. "We run for children who don't have the ability to outrun the poverty that is overtaking their lives. This is my third year running the BolderBOULDER for Compassion, and we will encourage everyone at the race that 'You can make a difference!' You can fight this destroyer of children's lives that we call poverty and give children the chance to run a good race with their lives."

Compassion International is one of the world's largest Christian child-development organizations, working with more than 65 denominations and more than 4,000 indigenous church partners in Africa, Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Since 1952, Compassion has touched the lives of more than 1.6 million children and has been recognized for its financial integrity with top ratings and recommendations by several of the nation's leading not-for-profit "watchdog" organizations.

For information about sponsoring a child, contact Compassion online at www.compassion.com or by calling (800) 336-7676, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., MST.
