The 23rd annual Christmas Price Index rose 3.1 percent in 2007, consistent with the 3.5 percent rate of increase in the Consumer Price Index. Drivers for the Christmas Price Index increase included the increase in minimum wage, which drove up the cost of Maids-a-Milking; the increased cost of gold, which led to higher prices for gold rings; and increases to food costs, including the most commonly eaten birds in the Index, the Geese-a-Laying.
