Circutus launched EasyAnnotate.com today, providing a social e-book platform for websites. EasyAnnotate™ shifts website reading away from scrolling, to an e-book experience with page turns and columns. Readers can create annotations and share them with friends, classmates, and colleagues. Websites that integrate EasyAnnotate encourage reader feedback and can respond to it more efficiently.
“Most e-book readers do a great job of storing personal notes, but they fall short when it comes to supporting groups of readers,” says EasyAnnotate creator Travis Haagen. “EasyAnnotate preserves the reading experience, even with hundreds of annotations, and gives websites complete control over how reading groups are formed. This provides a lot of room for innovation when bringing together like-minded readers or enabling self-forming groups.”
EasyAnnotate provides the features that people have come to expect from e-book readers, such as page-turn navigation, font size adjustment, and automatic column layout. When a reader selects a piece of text they can create annotations, for either personal reference or public sharing. Annotations can be quickly summarized for an entire document by using the Study Sheet, which can be saved as a PDF or printed directly.
The EasyAnnotate Platform uses the industry standard EPUB file format, so that content can be authored using both commercial and open source tools, or automatically generated from a Content Management System. Integrators use the EasyAnnotate API to give readers access to content and can create reading groups for sharing annotations. EasyAnnotate hosts your e-books and provides bandwidth, while the EasyAnnotate Reader allows your customers to read without leaving your website.
