Chicago, IL (Vocus) September 10, 2009
Advent-Pulse+, a new JavaFX-based rich internet application (RIA) client extension interfacing with an existing JBoss Seam-based enterprise application, was debuted by CITYTECH Inc. at the 2009 JBoss World and Red Hat Summit in Chicago on September 1, 2009.
Earlier in 2009, CITYTECH developed and released a JBoss Seam-based Advent-Pulse application for Advent Conferencing, a full service telephone and web conferencing service provider. Advent-Pulse provides customer relationship management (CRM), a live interface with conference bridges for billing data extraction, business intelligence, and sales commission management in one seamless application.
CITYTECH debuted Advent-Pulse+, an RIA extension to the existing traditional web application, highlighting the ability to visually display operational data with geographic and financial information using a JavaFX-based dashboard.
A number of emerging technologies are showcased with this application. Advent-Pulse+ uses JavaFX as the basis of the RIA extension. Exadel’s Flamingo exposes the existing Seam Actions to the JavaFX client enabling seamless integration and co-location with the existing Seam-based web application.
Charts, geographical maps and other visual elements publish critical sales data, including area codes, with the most teleconferencing activity, locations of all teleconference leaders, top leaders by company, and the services being used. Data is published daily, monthly or by other specified time periods. Advent-Pulse+ with the JavaFX dashboard will be used to improve the Advent client experience and increase its competitive edge.
“It's important to note that the JavaFX application exists in parallel to the production application. In this way, users can continue to use the web-based JSF front-end that they are used to for basic data operations, but also use the JavaFX application for a more analytical view of the data,” says Sten Anderson, a CITYTECH consultant who helped develop Advent-Pulse.
“This application presents a sort of ‘best of both worlds,’ in that it has a rich user interface, but it's still being backed by an enterprise-grade stack,” Anderson says.
“Internet-based applications are becoming much more user friendly and intuitive by leveraging rich internet application platforms such as JavaFX, Adobe Flex and Microsoft Silverlight. Enterprise applications with an innovative and compelling user interface such as Advent-Pulse+ can help us think differently about how to convey important business events and data to users,” says Matt Van Bergen, CITYTECH’s Chief Technology Officer.
