The latest addition to the explosion proof lights family, including the paint spray booth approved, Class 1 Division 1 fluorescent lights (EPL-48-2L and EPL-48-4L), is designed to meet UL safety standards for "open air" hazardous location areas.

"We have a lot of solid feedback on our explosion proof, paint spray booth approved lights, including the EPL-48-2L and EPL-48-4L fluorescents lights," stated Rob Bresnahan, President of "However, not all customers are operating in confined spaces. When flammable vapors in Groups A, B, C and D are constantly present in a confined space, our Class 1 Division 1 fixtures are the appropriate solution. This is common in paint spray booths, oil rigs, etc. However, when operators are looking to illuminate areas where these same vapors are sometimes present, usually adjacent to the confined space, OSHA requires Class 1 Division II fixtures. Generally, the confined space is a smaller area, while the adjacent spaces are substantially larger. So a lower cost fixture, like our HAL-48-2L, provides the same illumination at a much lower cost. This enables operators to provide the illumination they need, meet OSHA requirements and stay within budget."

Rob continued, "often times, operators will change over large sections of their plants, etc. During that time, they require temporary explosion proof lighting. We offer an extensive range of handheld, hook mount and cart based explosion proof lights for sale and rental. This year, we are expanding our rental offerings to include all of our explosion proof and hazardous location lighting.    For operators that have a limited need for one of our large explosion proof flood lights (EPL-24C-1X4) to complete plant maintenance, clean a tank or blast and paint a fuel vessel, they can purchase the light directly or they can rent the unit for one month at a fraction of the purchase cost. Many of these UL approved, explosion proof lights cost several thousand dollars. For operators needing these lights on an ongoing basis, purchase is their best choice. Operators who are doing a periodic maintenance operation or would simply prefer to expense the cost, instead of capitalizing and maintaining an asset, this is an alternative choice. Explosion proof light rentals offer other benefits as well, including flexibility, maintenance, etc."

Rob concluded, "In 2009, we have many new explosion proof lighting solutions coming out for surface mount and portable applications. By extending our range, inventory levels, purchase and rental options, we continue to add value to our customers. We are looking to move closer to our goal of becoming a one stop shop for plant, construction and environmental companies. Last year we added explosion proof blowers to help our contractor blasting and painting customers meet their project needs from one source. In 2009, we continue to evaluate customer requests and look to add more items, like our Class 1 Division 2 fluorescent lights."
