Clearwater Compliance announced its plans to sponsor and host a special networking event known as “Privacy After Hours” in Nashville in September. “Privacy After Hours” provides an opportunity for professionals involved in information privacy to get to know other privacy professionals in their community at an “after hours” venue for a casual evening of socializing and networking.
The idea for “Privacy After Hours” events was spawned by the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) in late 2009 as a means of engaging more individuals involved or interested in privacy in networking and sharing. There is no agenda...the purpose is simply to create an opportunity for the growing community of privacy professionals to get to know others in their area and learn about their jobs and other interests.
“With the Nashville Technology Council’s InfoSec 2012 event going on the same week, we expect a number of professionals will be traveling to Nashville to attend that event. So we thought this timing would give more people the time and opportunity to get together. And we can begin conversations about potentially establishing a regular forum for privacy professionals to network, ask questions, share ideas and make acquaintances with their peers in the data protection and privacy community,” said Bob Chaput, Clearwater’s founder and CEO. “There are IAPP members in Middle Tennessee, but there are no regular events. We hope to become a catalyst in nurturing and creating a community of privacy professionals. With the area’s extensive healthcare industry, we know there is a growing need.”
Clearwater is teaming with IAPP of Middle TN to host this event, which is expected to attract many involved in Information Security as well as the Privacy sector. This initial “Privacy After Hours” event will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Bridge Bar in the Renaissance Hotel at 611 Commerce Street in downtown Nashville. On the Wednesday, September 12, the day following the “Privacy After Hours” event, Clearwater will host its own one-day, intensive educational seminar—the Clearwater HIPAA Audit Prep BootCamp(tm) at at the Nashville Convention Center. IAPP members, as well as members of a number of other security and privacy-related professional organizations are awarding continuing education credits for attendance at Clearwater’s BootCamp(tm).
