The Local Search Traffic video marks the first video produced in the United States using clickable video tools by U.K.-based wireWAX. Viewers can click on tagged objects to reveal enriched, interactive content.

With video projected to account for over 50% of global web traffic by 2014 (CISCO study), it also continues to evolve with new technologies that help deliver engaging messages. Perhaps the most promising of these technologies is clickable video, which allows users to engage with interactive content without ever leaving the video.
Realizing the potential of this technology, Denver-based digital marketing agency Location3 Media chose clickable video when creating a marketing piece for their Local Search Traffic division. The video, which shows small business owners how to optimize their local listings and develop a successful local advertising campaign, lets viewers click on tagged objects to reveal enriched, interactive content. For example, as the narrator gives tips on improving listing rankings, the viewer can search live results from a popup window incorporated from within the video, showing the viewer where their business ranks in the local map listings.
This marks the first video produced in the United States using clickable video tools by U.K.-based wireWAX. This technology is a plug-in for video players that can dynamically track objects within the frame and assign interactive tags to them. Click-to-buy ecommerce applications have already been developed and the platform will soon be coming to the Apple iPad. Additionally, Location3’s video marks the first integration of the technology with the Brightcove Express online video platform.
“As we expand into a broader video offering, we’re excited to add wireWAX to our arsenal of technologies. And with this video, we’re able to share our expertise in local search in a fun, interactive way,” says Alex Porter, President of Location3 Media.
This video was created in conjunction with Denver production company LightGroup and filmed at locations in and around Denver, Colorado. A true team effort, Video Manager Nathan Evans wrote and directed the piece; Director of Local Search Traffic Erik Whaley wrote the original score; and many other Location3 and Local Search Traffic staff and family members filled in as extras.
