Thanksgiving Week Activities at The Corning Museum of Glass

Families will find plenty of reasons to spend time together at The Corning Museum of Glass during Thanksgiving week—without breaking the bank account.

Corning, NY (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 15, 2009 -- Families will find plenty of reasons to spend time together at The Corning Museum of Glass during Thanksgiving week—without breaking the bank account.

On Sunday, November 22, the Museum kicks off Thanksgiving week with Families Explore: The Victorian Era. Experience the Victorian period through storytelling, crafts and other kid-friendly activities. Decorate a Victorian-inspired personal keepsake box and make a beaded ring. Try on Victorian clothing and play a matching game in the Museum’s galleries. Hear Victorian stories from Regi Carpenter, and learn about Mark Twain from the Chemung Valley History Museum.

Activities take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are included in Museum admission. Contact Kristy Bartenstein at (607) 974-3306 or bartenstkm@cmog.org for more information about Families Explore.

The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, but the weekend following the holiday offers a variety of family-friendly activities and a chance to see the new exhibition, Tiffany Treasures, which features stunning Tiffany glass and some of the drawings that inspired it. Participate in the You Design It; We Make It! feature of the Hot Glass Show, enjoy a How’d They Do That? show, and much more.

Adult admission is $5 for residents in the 148, 149, and 169 ZIP codes; adults from other areas pay $12.50. Kids and teens, 19 and under, are admitted free.

The Museum is open daily 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (and until 8:00 p.m. Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day). It is only closed January 1, Thanksgiving Day, and December 24 and 25.
