Announcing the Award Recipients for the 2011 Coach for Life’s Champions Dinner & Show. Healings in Motion honors life's champions at the 4th Annual Coach for Life's Champions Awards Dinner & Show. Extraordinary people facing life threatening illnesses and diseases who DO NOT surrender in the fight for recovery and Caregivers, the backbone for recovery, are served a special evening of inspiration with keynote speaker, Ed Hearn, author of "Conquering Life's Curves and former World Series Pitcher for the New York Mets.
Healings in Motion celebrates the 4th Annual “Coach for Life‘s Champions” Awards Dinner and Show on Sunday, September 25 at Stockton’s newest event venue, Variety's Banquet Hall & Terrace. Phil Waterford, owner of Manteca Ford & Exotic High Line and Jeff Bell, CBS Radio News Anchor and Founder of Adversity2Advocacy, serve as the Masters of Ceremonies at this fundraising event.
Ed Hearn, former pitcher for the New York Mets and bestselling author of “Conquering Life’s Curves” will deliver the keynote address. Ed experienced the highs of winning a World Series and the lows of sudden illness and change. Through it all, he took a series of negative occurrences and turned them into a new championship that has inspired thousands of people internationally!
This year's award recipients are:
Coach for Life’s Champions Award - Dr. James Morrissey, Cardiac Surgeon at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton, CA
Jr. Caregiver Award - Bryan Treadwell, who stepped up to care for his grandfather after he suffered two strokes.
Creative Expressions Award – There are two recipients in this category. Althea Jerrels, whose regular epileptic seizures challenge her way of expression, and the Cathy Gryson Family, 4 generations of stroke fighters.
Caregiver of the Year Award – This category has three amazing winners. The Morfin Family, who came to the rescue of their 24-year old brother and son to help him recovery from a devastating hit and run motorcycle accident; Richard Pardini, celebrating 65 years of marriage has spent the last 15 years caring for his love mate who no longer remembers him and has disabilities resulting from two strokes. Richard cherishes their memories and is affectionate still today; and Ron Gutierrez, after his wife had a stroke, reassures her that he loves her more than ever and would stand by her with a physical disability. The love and compassion Ron showed spearheaded his wife’s fight for recovery.
The President's Award – This special award will be presented to Joe Goldeen, Reporter and Health Blogger for the Stockton Record. According to Mary Nicholson, Founder & President of Healings in Motion, "Goldeen has been a beacon for those enduring challenges from an illness. Through his blog, Joe shares credible resources and a calendar of events related to health and health care in San Joaquin County".
This exciting event will kick-off with a reception hosted by Joseph Santos, Mayor Lathrop, CA and manufacturer of marinade sauces. Succulent meats and other wonderful dishes will be featured. Santos himself is a Stroke Survivor. According to Mayor Santos, "supporting Healings in Motion's cause to encourage champions to fight for life and recovery from a life-threatening disease, like a stroke, is my honor. I am a survivor and this is 'Pay-It-Forward' for me."
Ticket cost for the dinner is $50.00. A limited number of scholarships are available to champions who cannot financially afford the dinner but really want to be a part of this evening of celebration.
