Coast2Coast Rx announced today that it will distribute its county-endorsed prescription discount cards at several games during the 2012 season, beginning with this Sunday’s game on April 22 at 1:05 p.m. at Petco Park.

The San Diego Padres donated use of the Community Kiosk, located in the Park at the Park, demonstrating their commitment to being a community partner by offering the card and its benefits to thousands of game attendees. Before and during the game, representatives will distribute the free cards, starting when the gates open at approximately 11:05 a.m., two hours prior to the first pitch. Fans are welcome to pick up a card for their personal use as well as additional cards to provide to their family members and friends.

Coast2Coast Rx, a prescription discount program, is offered with no costs, eligibility restrictions or membership requirements. Consumers can save up to 75 percent on over 60,000 brand name and generic drugs by simply presenting the card when filling prescriptions at a participating chain or local pharmacy. Through partner programs, the card also offers savings on dental, vision and hearing services, as well as diabetes supplies.

Approved by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in June 2011, the Coast2Coast Rx card has already had an impact for residents, who are using the card to save on thousands of prescriptions each month. Whether consumers are uninsured, underinsured, or their healthcare plan does not provide coverage for certain prescriptions, the Coast2Coast Rx card can help them take part in an average nationwide savings of 55 percent. In just 10 short months, San Diego residents have already saved $2.7 million, and are expected to have saved $3 million by the end of April, even with just a small percentage of consumers using the card. To extend the card’s benefits to as many San Diegans as possible, Coast2Coast Rx is continuing to work with public departments and local nonprofit agencies to make the card available.

“Our goal is to help improve health outcomes for consumers; the opportunity to hand out cards at games throughout the season is an excellent vehicle to make sure thousands of consumers have easy access to the free program,” said Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the company that provides the discount prescription card.

Coast2Coast Rx gives back to San Diego—as well as all municipalities participating in the program—by providing $1.25 for each prescription filled using the Coast2Coast Rx card towards public programs, setting this discount card from the rest. Residents who use the card are effectively reinvesting in their community while saving money on their prescription drug costs.
