This manual will help teachers motivate their students to gain and maintain physically active lifestyles through easy-to-understand and creative lesson plans

Cobalt Flux®, Inc., a world-wide leader in active gaming systems and peripherals, announced today that it has collaborated with Game Doctor, a credible resource for Active Gaming information and services, to publish the Cobalt Flux Lesson Plan Manual. The first manual of its kind, Cobalt Flux Lesson Plan Manual assists teachers and practitioners with the implementation of Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), using Cobalt Flux Dance Pads, in the physical education classroom. The lesson plans found in the manual cover curriculum areas in fitness and dance as well as the integration of traditional activities in order to promote maximum participation among all students.

Cobalt Flux Lesson Plan Manual co-author, founder of Game Doctor, University of South Florida assistant professor and active gaming expert, Lisa Hansen, Ph.D commented, “This manual will help teachers motivate their students to gain and maintain physically active lifestyles through easy-to-understand and creative lesson plans. Active gaming systems such as DDR provide kids with an enjoyable and motivating fitness experience; the ideas in the manual help teachers reinforce the message that fitness using active gaming can be fun yet very effective at the same time.”

Eighteen lessons are provided in the lesson plan manual; nine related to fitness and nine related to dance content. Within each content area there are three lessons targeted for a specific grade level (3-5, 6-8, and 9-12). The last lesson for each age group integrates traditional physical activities with DDR in order to assist in promoting maximum participation for all students. Additionally, each lesson incorporates learning objectives that align with at least one of the national physical education standards.

“This manual is a great resource to help teachers make active gaming systems more useful in educational settings,” noted Ryan D. Hoggan, Director at Cobalt Flux. “It is important to Cobalt Flux to make information readily available on how to effectively utilize active gaming equipment for increased physical fitness in the classroom.”

Cobalt Flux offers the 4-Player Wireless Wii Pad System that includes DDR and proprietary Cobalt Flux Dance Pads, among other items. The company also has developed other active gaming peripherals and products, such as the new BluFit ProDance system (http://www.blufitpro.com), which was released in summer 2010.

Now through November 14, 2010, a complimentary copy of the Cobalt Flux Lesson Plan Manual and a free one-on-one phone consultation with the Game Doctor – a value of over $599 – will be provided with the purchase of a Cobalt Flux 4-Player Wii Pad System. For more information, call 801-484-0100.
