Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery celebrates the arrival of spring with its annual April Wine Releases at the Annan, Grey County winery. Overlooking the crystal blue water of Georgian Bay, in the shadow of the Niagara Escarpment, Coffin Ridge is Grey County's first winery, open for 4 seasons to the public and coming up on its 6th vintage.

A boutique winery by design, Coffin Ridge produces high quality, small batch wine made primarily from grapes grown from hand planted, hand-picked Grey County grapes. Coffin Ridge's three signature wines include Into The Light White, Back From The Dead Red and Resurrection Rose express the Grey County terroir exquisitely.

The Grey County winery April Wine Releases can be
experienced Thursday to Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm. Guests to the Ontario winery on the shores of scenic Georgian Bay can take advantage of a wine tasting led by one of the Grey County winery’s knowledgeable staff. Wine enthusiasts are then invited to retreat to the deck for a glass of wine and a vintner's plate created with local artisanal breads and cheeses which have been specifically paired with the glass of wine being sampled. A relaxing atmosphere overlooking stunning Georgian Bay, complete with music, completes the Coffin Ridge experience.

There are four new wines being introduced in this year’s April Wine Releases. Coffin Ridge wines featured include the 2010 Riesling Bone Dry at $18.80 available at local LCBO stores and the winery, a complex attractive blend of lime, mango, green apples, citrus blossoms, flint and peach. The flavour profile is dry, medium bodied, and fruit driven. The 2009 Back From The Dead Red also at $18.80 is known for its deep ruby-cherry intensity, lightly toasted oak,rustic tar, black olive, spice, white pepper, soy, and blackberry round out the aroma profile.The subtle body, shows elements of pepper, meatiness, tar-leather, olive and earthiness.

The third Grey County wine to be introduced is the 2009 Reserve Baco Noir at $24.80 with a very intense ruby color. This Canadian oak aged Grey County Reserve Baco shows intense, complex, aromas of blackberry, truffles, cedar, black pepper, vanilla and tea. The flavour intensity is big and fruit forward with elegance. The final spring 2011 offering is the 2009 Marechal Foch at $17.80. This deep ruby-cherry Foch has rich tar, complex smoky oak, blackberry, black currant dark plums, black pepper and bitter chocolate overtones. The flavor depth is medium-plus with lots intensity, tar, smoke, dark berry, tobacco, cedar, spice, leather.
