Boulder, Colorado’s for-profit philanthropic tea company, The Tea Spot, produces handcrafted loose leaf teas and Steepware® – the tools that make loose tea easy. For the newest addition to its Steepware® line, the company turned to its most loyal customers in a survey to finalize the product name, and then sent advance units of the new product to its top fans. The ‘Steep & Go’, as it was named, turns bottled water and loose leaf tea into fresh iced tea while on-the-go, and has been an instant hit with The Tea Spot’s client base. It won the 2012 Best New Product award in the Innovation Category from the World Tea Expo, held this June at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

‘Steep & Go’ acts as a reverse infuser to turn bottled water into fresh cold brewed tea with a wide variety of loose leaf tea options. The process by which it makes fresh loose leaf tea brew is reverse infusion. It filters the tea leaves from the consumable beverage as you drink, thus allowing tea leaves maximum room to expand in the water bottle. This reverse tea infuser pairs with disposable water bottles and loose leaf teas to cold brew tea within just ten minutes. ‘Steep & Go’ has a hands-free sports cap, which turns bottled water into a sport bottle.

Initially developed under the name “Slim Steeper”, the product was developed to provide health conscious consumers a fresh-brewed bottled tea alternative, free from any sweeteners and preservatives. When it came time to finalize the product name, The Tea Spot engaged their direct customer base for feedback. ‘Steep & Go’ was the product name chosen by The Tea Spot’s newsletter subscribers with an overwhelming majority. The company moved forward with the customer-endorsed selection, and has recently launched the product. The ‘Steep & Go’ is currently available in four different colors: Green Tea, Ocean, Violet, and Tangerine, and retails for $6.95 on the tea company’s website TheTeaSpot.com.
