Dr. Kendra Johnson and Dr. Rob Cunningham recently launched an educational consulting firm that specializes in providing college preparation assistance to high school students with disabilities. Transition2College offers higher education consulting and training for school counselors, students, parents, and others working with students with disabilities.
Dr. Johnson, co-founder of Transition2College, is an educational consultant, trainer, and author is known for her work in opening doors to higher education for the population of students with disabilities. She is co-author of the book, 100 Things Every College Student with a Disability Ought to Know. Dr. Johnson has been accepted as a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA). Professional membership is reserved for only the most capable and experienced independent educational consultants. Members must have visited a minimum of 50 college campuses, meet IECA’s professional standards, and subscribe to its Principle of Good Practice.
Dr. Rob Cunningham, co-founder, has enjoyed and long and successful career as an advocate for persons with disabilities and is a frequent presenter to high school educators, students, and parents on topics related to college-related issues affecting those with disabilities. Dr. Cunningham is a director of disability services and the ADA Compliance officer at a public 4-year competitive institution, where he also serves as an adjunct faculty member in higher education administration.
Founded in 2004 and formerly known as Transition Game Educational Consultants, Transition2College was introduced to highlight the founders’ joint vision of empowering students with disabilities to reach their full potential through post-secondary education. The company’s student-centered approach centers on creating plans for the future that are built upon the student's dreams, capabilities, interests, and needs.
The goal of Transition2College is to assist students in the process of self identifying and reaching their post-secondary education goals.
