Campus-wide Financial Literacy Workshops Offered to Future Students of Wake Tech and Their Parents

Wake Technical Community College, in collaboration with the SunTrust Foundation and the National Financial Educators Council, are hosting Financial Empowerment Workshop for future students and their parents. These workshops focus on providing practical information that will help them in college and beyond.

Wake Tech is committed to helping students gain skills to earn more money and manage their money properly. The Center for Personal Finance will offer two events during the Open House. Students who bring parents may attend the College Family Finance event. Those who come alone or with friends can attend the Center for Personal Finance - Financial Empowerment Open House Events. Both sessions will prepare you for the financial realities of college and beyond.

The event is taking place March 9th between 10:00 and 12:30 at Wake Tech Main Campus. This event also launches the Financial Scavenger Hunt contest where students have the chance to win prizes for completing tasks that can improve their financial situation.

The Financial Empowerment Workshop blends live instructor training, multimedia videos, and real-world activities. The workshops employ various learning styles to engage participants, creating a productive learning environment with high retention levels.

Wake Tech is fully committed to designing a comprehensive financial education initiative for prospective students, current students, staff, and faculty. The planning, implementation and assessment of the financial literacy program is a collaborative effort between Wake Tech’s administration, Foundation Office, GED/ABE Programs, Student Activities Office, Financial Aid Office, Promotions & Marketing and Curriculum Education Services. The college is dedicated to providing this holistic financial education initiative in order to increase financial literacy and allow participants to achieve financial freedom and empowerment.
