New Economy Means New Travel Plans for College Students in 2009
To see how the state of the economy effected students and their travel and leisure plans this spring break. StuVu.com conducted a nationwide poll of college students asking them, "What did you do for spring break in 2009?". A surprising number of students opted out of the usual party destinations and chose something more economical.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 13, 2009 -- StuVu.com, a leading web site for college reviews , is releasing the results of its latest college student poll. StuVu asked college students "What did you do for spring break in 2009?" to see how the state of the economy is effecting students and their travel/leisure plans.
The results are available online in the StuVu.com Student Resource Center: StuVu.com Spring Break Travel Poll Results
"It's clear the economy is having a large effect on the college student population," said Phil Griffiths, Co-Founder of StuVu.com - a web site that provides college reviews. "Students are having to find less expensive ways to relax in their down time by going home or just staying on campus."
The poll also shows a growing percentage of students have taken President Obama's call to volunteer in their community. Many college campuses and organizations have put together volunteer groups as a spring break option. While other college students still chose to go to a party destination, many of the trips were to domestic locations instead of the usual tropical destinations in Mexico or the Caribbean. This drop in international travel was also before the Swine Flu warnings that may prevent more students from going to Mexico in the coming years.
StuVu.com plans on publishing more results of their student polls in the coming months in their Student Resource Center as well as continuing to provide student reviews of colleges throughout the United States.
