We hope that new college students find The Real College Guide helpful and entertaining as they cross the threshold of academia for the first time.

The Real College Guide, a new online program created for and by college students, has been launched by Web content producer and syndicator Studio One Networks. The program’s exclusive sponsor is Procter & Gamble’s ReadyU, a branded platform for many of the company’s products that appeal to college students. This brings the total number of Studio One’s content categories to 26, and their roster of sponsors to 50 of the world’s leading advertisers.

The Real College Guide provides a platform for college students to give their advice and insights to readers trying to transition smoothly from home life to living on their own. This peer-to-peer program is written entirely by college students.

Four areas of keen interest to incoming college students will be covered regularly:

The Dorm: Organizational solutions for cramped living spaces, adjusting to communal living, and roommate relations.
Lifestyle: Relationships, balancing school and social life, and handling stress, pressure and parents.
Academics: Study tips, choosing classes, and career information.
Health and Fitness: Smart eating and drinking, conquering the freshman 15, and sexuality.

Other content elements include “Daily Advisor” tips, “Ask the R.A.” column, polls, discussion forums and social networking/bookmarking.

Kelly White, a writer and editor who has contributed to a variety of national consumer magazines and Web sites with an emphasis on the young adult market such as Teen, Family Life, Moxie Girl and Cosmopolitan, is the managing editor of The Real College Guide.

Studio One Networks’ Elizabeth Narins is the assistant editor of The Real College Guide. She is a 2008 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
