Digestive & Liver Disease Center of San Antonio will provide information and answer questions about IBS during IBS Awareness Month.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder with a worldwide prevalence estimated at 9-23 percent. Despite its prevalence, many people remain undiagnosed and unaware that their symptoms indicate a medically recognized disorder.

April has been designated as IBS Awareness Month. During this time, the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders works to focus attention on important health messages about IBS diagnosis, treatment and quality of life issues. In support of IBS Awareness Month, IFFGD will provide the Digestive & Liver Disease Center of San Antonio with complimentary copies of their IBS publication. This in-depth overview of IBS includes information on symptoms, causes, diagnosis, management and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome.

The more the Digestive & Liver Disease Center of San Antonio and other medical offices work together to raise awareness for IBS, the greater their ability to impact positive outcomes, such as additional research, increased educational opportunities and improved patient care, for the functional GI community.
