A large part of being a business based in the community is to be aware of those who need our help. We recognize this, and that's ultimately what we're trying to do
Margate, Florida (PRWEB) July 27, 2012
Colonial Van Lines is looking to spread the word of an upcoming blood drive we are hosting for patients in need. While our main goal is to give back to the South Florida community, we also want to give some background information about the event and let people know what requirements must be met to participate.
Colonial Van Lines, alongside the Community Blood Centers of South Florida, is hosting a blood drive on Friday, August 3 from 12:00 pm – 6:30 pm at the Colonial Van Lines headquarters in Margate, FL. The company's first-ever blood drive will give everyone from local residents and students to company employees an opportunity to donate blood and platelets to medical patients in need.
“We are absolutely elated to provide the opportunity and venue for people looking to give back by donating blood,” said Maria Bottone, Colonial Van Lines' Director of Human Resources. Bottone, who has also managed to coordinate other community events like the annual children's toy drive “Toys for Tots” during the holidays, added, “A large part of being a business based in the community is to be aware of those who need our help. We recognize this, and that's ultimately what we're trying to do.”
Medical patients everywhere are searching for blood. To meet the rising demand for blood, Colonial Van Lines, a long distance moving company, decided to join forces with the Community Blood Centers of South Florida and host a drive. The blood drive will provide much-needed assistance to patients being treated throughout the South Florida region. The company is now generating buzz and spreading the word in hopes of donating as much blood as possible.
Healthy individuals that are 17 years or older and weigh at least 100 pounds are eligible to donate. A mini-physical will be performed prior to blood extraction to check iron, temperature, blood pressure and pulse. Photo identification will be required. To make an appointment for the Colonial Van Lines Save a Life Blood Drive, contact the Colonial Van Lines Human Resources department at 888.717.0711 ext. 249. Walk-ins are also welcome.
