Color forecasters at Pantone have chosen Honeysuckle as 2011 Color of the Year and the members of the Color Marketing Group have selected Honey Moon as their Next color. Although very different, both colors reflect a rising tide of consumer optimism.

In a prescient move, designer fabrics in 2011 trend forecast colors Honey Moon from the Color Marketing Group and Honeysuckle from Pantone are in stock now at the Calico Corners – Calico Home stores. Both colors reflect rising consumer optimism, noted Jan Jessup, director of communications for the national retailer of interior fabrics and custom furnishings.

"Honey Moon is a golden honey color with a drop of ochre," says Jessup. "It's a warm, organic vintage shade that also works well as a saturated neutral. I love how Honey Moon marries with citron and deep foliage greens, spice market reds and the rich dusky violets so popular now." Honey Moon was the top palette pick for the Color Marketing Group's Next Color at their recent national conference. Jessup is also a member of CMG and attended the conference in Portland, Oregon where colors for the next two years were forecast.

Pantone's Color of the Year Honeysuckle, is a vibrant raspberry pink and a popular home decorating hue, notes Jessup. "It's bright, it's lively, it's a positive color—and it's fun to pair it with white and ivory or to add a punch of deep pink to neutrals and grays." Honeysuckle is a saturated color with a touch of yellow—so this is very different from bubble gum pinks or little girl princess pinks on the market, she adds. "Honeysuckle is a shade that even men will love—they'll wear it in polo shirts and silk ties," says Jessup.

"The intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages," states Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color."
