Comcastoffer.net is offering a scholarship for students to win $1,000 towards their education expenses at an accredited college or private career school. The essay should be no less than 750 words and answer the question: “Television has spawned the ‘reality’ genre, why is it so popular, and how has it impacted the viewing public?”
Reality TV seems to have taken over the broadcast industry, spotlighting ordinary people and turning them into household names. The overwhelming success of these productions grabbed the attention of celebrities and superstars from many different genres.
Trending now, these same stars are competing against each other in a number of reality TV shows in hopes of garnering even more attention from fans to enhance their stardom and fame. Why have these shows become so popular with viewers?

Contributors must be a current undergraduate or graduate student attending an accredited college or private career school who will be continuing their course of studies in the spring of 2013.
