Before starting Silverman Communications, Mr. Silverman was the Partner in charge of the North American financial services business for Brunswick Group, the international communications consultancy. Previously, he spent 15 years working as a senior corporate communications executive in New York and London with Lazard, Honeywell International, and Merrill Lynch. It was at Merrill Lynch where Mr. Silverman and his teammates were recognized with the prestigious PR award, the Silver Anvil, for the results they generated in the wake of the 9/11 crisis. Mr. Silverman also spent a dozen years as a financial journalist for Dow Jones and Bloomberg News.
On a separate note, Silverman Communications is pleased to announce that, in its debut on the PR deal advisory league tables, the firm placed third in mergermarket's third-quarter 2008 rankings for completed financial services industry deals (listed by total value); Silverman Communications also ranked 10th in mergermarket's all-industry rankings for PR advisors on completed M&A transactions for the same time period.
"Starting Silverman Communications Group is incredibly exciting, and being able to hit the ground running has been extremely gratifying," Mr. Silverman said. "The desire to run my own business was irresistible and, despite the challenging conditions in the markets, it feels like the right time to make the leap."
With a solid professional background in journalism, corporate communications and PR agencies, Silverman Communications is able to analyze every side of an issue before offering counsel based on more than 25 years' experience. Among the crisis communications issues that Mr. Silverman has managed are the corporate response to the 9/11 attacks, one of the market's most controversial IPOs, a watershed transcontinental merger, developing communications plans for the Y2K and Euro conversions, and various other sensitive PR situations.
"Silverman Communications Group consults with management to develop efficient and effective communications strategies, and then works to execute the plan," Mr. Silverman said. "Further, we are also well-sourced with key business and financial media in the U.S. and Europe, which provides clients with the opportunity to quickly reach critical journalists as deadlines approach."
Alongside Rich Silverman is Silverman Communications Group Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Mitch Silverman. The brothers each have their own areas of specialty: Rich focuses on serving clients and developing new business, while Mitch devotes his time to managing all other aspects of the business.
Previously, Mitch Silverman was a Managing Director and the investment banker in charge of Nomura Securities' U.S. New Products Group; President of a Florida-based international import/export, logistics firm; CEO of a California real estate company; and owner of a multi-location health services business in New York.
