Threehosts.com compared the web hosting services of Dreamhost, InMotion and Godaddy. This comparison is based on their speed, reliability, support, features and price.
Godaddy may be successful as a domain registrar; however there have been plenty of negatives as to the subject of their web hosting packages. Options for economy plans are limited, and full-featured plans can be pricey. The Godaddy custom control panel is fairly unpopular with webmasters.
Dreamhost does not offer cPanel and makes things complicated for their users. cPanel provides a graphical interface and automation tools designed to simplify the process of managing a web hosting account. Most of the hosting companies make this ready-made control panel available for their clients. Dreamhost offers its own control panel which is not user friendly, and many users find it difficult to use. Dreamhost has designed it itself from the ground up, and clients won’t find anything like it at any other hosting company. The worst aspect about Dreamhost is their customer service. Dreamhost does not offer call-in phone support. Customers can pay extra to request call-backs from support staff. Dreamhost offers a live chat for all accounts on a temporary basis, depending on how many email tickets they have waiting. The live chat feature will be temporarily turned off while they receive many ticket emails, and must focus on them. Only customers that have paid for the "Chat and Call-back" service will be guaranteed that the live chat feature will never be disabled.
Inmotion does not provide a full featured shared hosting package, the same as iPage. All its three shared hosting plans (launch, power and pro) don't support some features like SSH and Ruby on Rails. Some of these features are important, especially SSH (Secure Shell) which provides more security for transferring data because of an encrypted link between client and server computers. Most other shared web hosts such as Bluehost and Hostgator offer all these features for free. This is why it can't be found any page on Inmotion displaying full details of its hosting features as detailed as some other competitors.
In conclusion, Godaddy is the first choice among the three discussed companies, however, editors at Threehosts.com recommend Bluehost as the most recommended web hosting provider.
